Kilts films Big Sky State Games

Stefanie Kilts, owner of Masterpiece Films and Production, turns her lens on a cyclist competing in the Big Sky State Games. Kilts, along with family members Jerry Kilts and Kristina Kilts, have two entries in the inaugural Magic City Shorts Film Festival: an overview of the state games and music video for local singer/songwriter Austin Martin.

Where was the film shot? Various venues in Billings and Red Lodge.

Your background in filmmaking: The Kilts family is a family of storytellers and second- and third-generation photographers and filmmakers. This film was shot by Alsa Photography, a 30-year-old studio in Billings, in conjunction with Masterpiece Films and Production, an up-and-coming video production company located in Colorado.

Inspiration for your film: We felt the combination of Austin Martin's musical and theatrical background would lend itself to a dynamic musical piece and we were excited to provide a service for an up-and-coming artist.

What makes this film unique? It's very rewarding to showcase hometown talent in beautiful places around Billings and Red Lodge.

Description of film: This was a pro bono piece for a very worthy cause. Alsa Photography has been providing still photography for Big Sky State Games for a number of years but was thrilled to use video to capture the spirit of the games this year.

Where was the film shot? At various venues around Billings.

Inspiration for your film: The athletes and families are a big part of the inspiration of this event.

What makes this film unique? We wanted to capture the energy of the games by shooting a wide range of sports and highlights that we then put together in an engaging short film.
