Looking for a fun way to spend your time and money this weekend or into the next week? Here are some top picks from The Gazette’s Cathy Ulrich and Jaci Webb.

Cathy’s pick

Today is Christmas Day,which means that New Year’s Eve is on a Thursday. So here’s an early recommendation for your last party of 2009: Dance Party. Bones Brewing, at 1425 Broadwater, hosts two DJs, Exodus and Dance Til Yer Dead, for the holiday bash Thursday. I think DJ Dance Til Yer Dead is the best DJ name I’ve ever heard. Much better than DJ Osama Spin Laden. That’s just stupid. For information, call 839-9231 or go to bonesbrewing.com.

Two of Billings’ hottest musical exports, Taylor Brown and Hana Pestle, are playing holiday shows in the next week at Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co.’s Garage Pub. I know it’s a pub, but it’s a great spot to take your teenage kids to so you can listen to live music together.

Brown, a singer-songwriter who just finished a national pub tour, is performing Sunday starting at 5 p.m. His younger brother, Guthrie Brown, opens with Phil Griffin as Gutpill. Pestle, a singer-songwriter now living and working in Los Angeles, performs at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Goodnight Sunrise opens.
