Bellissimo!
The Billings-based hand bell choir Bellissimo! is set to perform a program of music geared toward veterans and current military personell and their families.

Billings’ community handbell choir, bellissimo!, presents “All Bells on Deck,” featuring a concert, dinner, raffle and karaoke evening as a fundraiser for the group. Under the direction of Illona Porter, bellissimo! presents its annual spring concert and fundraiser at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at First United Methodist Church, 2800 Fourth Ave. N.

This spring’s concert will feature well-known patriotic songs that will honor all veterans, all current military, home and abroad, and their families. Bellissimo! will be joined by the Shrine Chanters, directed by John Baber, and The Akzents, directed by Porter. All three groups will join together with crowd favorites such as “America the Beautiful” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Bellissimo!’s solo pieces will range from Hart Morris’ “Uncommon Adoration” to Arnold Sherman’s piece, “Song of Remembrance,” with flutist Janie Rife.

The group will serve a dinner of baked chicken, salad, pasta, a baked potato bar and desserts after the concert in the church’s fellowship hall. A raffle of gift baskets are being sold by the group’s members and karaoke entertainment will be a part of the evening of fun. Dinner tickets are $10 per person and the raffle tickets are sox for $5.

Group members for the 2010-2011 season are: Ilona Porter (director), Aaron Blakeslee, Jubal Rife, Erika Ulman, Dodie Rife, Travis Kuehn, Babete Anderson, Paula Jackson, Mary Ann Pierson, Julie Draeger, Amie Briggs, Janie Rife and Craig Pierson.
