Magic City Blues to rock 3 venues over 4 days

Magic City Blues is celebrating its 13th year with shows over four days at three venues.

It opens Thursday, Aug. 7, with a free show at St. John’s Ministries, 3940 Rimrock Road. Bluegrass jam band Cornmeal will play a free, all-ages show from 7 to 8 p.m. Josh Harty opens the show at 6 p.m.

Here’s a look at the main schedule:

Friday, Aug. 8

Montana Avenue, 18-and-over show, gates open at 5 p.m.

Stillwater Stage

5:30 to 7 p.m., Dirty Power

7:30 to 9 p.m., Harper & Midwest Kind

9:30 to 11 p.m., Nikki Hill

Budweiser Stage

6:30 to 8 p.m., Matthew Curry

8:30 to 10 p.m., The London Souls

10:30 to 12 a.m., Jonny Lang

Saturday, Aug. 9

South Park (Sixth Avenue South at South 28th Street), all-ages show, gates open at 2:30 p.m.

3 to 4:30 p.m., Cornmeal

5 to 6:30 p.m., Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real

7 to 8:30 p.m., Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue

9 to 10:30 p.m., Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite

Sunday, Aug. 10

South Park (Sixth Avenue South at South 28th Street), all-ages show, gates open at 2:30 p.m.

3 to 4:30 p.m., Gary Small and The Coyote Brothers

5 to 6:30 p.m., Cornmeal

7 to 8:30 p.m., Huey Lewis and The News

Tickets for Friday, Saturday or Sunday are still available for advance purchase.

Advance tickets are available at Holiday stores, by phone at 534-0400 and at www.magcicityblues.com. Tickets are $11 higher at the gate.

Free bus shuttles are available to South Park and back downtown. The MET Transit runs from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, from the downtown transfer station. The bus runs four times per hour.

Buses run north and south on Broadway on Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. until the music ends. Pick up the bus in front of the Northern Hotel. Bus runs eight times per hour.

Reserved parking is available at South Park for $10. Call 534-0400 to reserve a space.
