Charlie Parr, a folk artist based in Duluth, Minn., is the latest act announced to play Magic City Blues Aug. 4 and 5.

He joins a lineup that includes Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot and Anderson East on Aug. 4 and Blackberry Smoke and ZZ Ward on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Parr has been traveling around singing his songs ever since leaving Austin, Minn., in the 1980s in search of Spider John Koerner, whom he found about 100 miles north at the Viking Bar one Sunday night.

The experience changed his life, made him more or less unemployable, and brings us to now: 13 recordings, 250 shows a year or more, 200,000 miles on a well broke in Kia, and a nasty fear of heights.

The festival will feature six bands on two stages each night. Montana Avenue will be closed off during the two-day festival.

Tickets are on sale at magiccityblues.com by calling 406-534-0400.
