Julie and Earl Halverson of Billings celebrated their 60th anniversary with a family potluck.
Jewel “Julie” Mattson and Earl Halverson were married on Aug. 16, 1952, in Billings.
After their marriage, Earl and Julie moved to Harlowton where Earl taught seventh grade and was the assistant athletic coach. Julie worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. After two years, they moved back to Billings where Earl taught math at Lincoln Junior High School and at Lewis and Clark Junior High School. He was then the assistant principal at Lincoln Junior High School and later at Lewis and Clark Junior High School, retiring in 1984.
Julie worked for the Pure Oil Company. In 1975, Julie began teaching kindergarten at Newman Elementary School.
She retired in 1995.
Their children are Mark Halverson (Edee Edwards) of West Halifax, Vt., and Lori Cornish (Don) of Billings.
The couple has one grandchild.
