Aldean L. Peterson (Dean) passed away on Sunday night, Sept. 2. Dean was born to Otto and Helen Peterson on June 29, 1931, underneath the only tree in Bowman, N.D.
Dean served in the Navy as a yeoman during World War II in the Marshall Islands. He married Doris Newlin on Sept. 17, 1955, in Billings. They raised four children: Lori Smith, Julie Connolly, Eric Peterson, and Ivan Peterson.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 56 years; his two sisters, Erlys Fink and Carole Vogel; four children; daughter-in-law Lisa; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He loved cooking for his family and trying out new recipes. He enjoyed gardening, horses, and livestock and collecting Indian artifacts. His real pleasure was sharing stories and spending time with friends, neighbors and family. He will be missed greatly by everyone he touched.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, at Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery in Laurel, Mont., at 1 p.m.
