Archie was born June 7, 1932, in Kentucky. In 1986, Archie moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he obtained his certified nursing assistant license. Archie was an employee at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Anaheim, Calif., from 1986 to 1988. In 1988 to 1992, he was employed at Colonial Manor Convalescent in Long Beach. Archie then moved to Billings, where he worked from 1992 to 2010 at Parkview Care Center.
Archie was very dedicated to Parkview Care Center and considered Parkview his family. Archie began his career at Parkview as a floor CNA and then worked his way up to the head of the restorative program. Archie was very innovative to solutions for difficult residents' needs. Archie had an excellent work ethic and was very dedicated to the residents at Parkview. He also had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if you did not have one. Archie spent countless hours volunteering at PVCC. He was always looking for prizes for bingo, which he called on the weekends. Most of these prizes came from pawn shops. Archie loved pawn shops and he was always looking for goodies for the residents. Archie was employee of the month many times during his 18 years at Parkview. He was awarded the Service Excellence Award in 2007. He was one of three out of nearly 2,000 employees to be awarded the Service Excellence Award.
Archie's health started to decline in 2010, at which time he retired. He loved Parkview so much that he moved there and spent his days "supervising" staff. He passed away Friday, April 1, 2011.
Archie is preceded in death by his stepson, Tony Mills. Archie is also survived by Lisa Garman and her family and by his friends and family at Parkview Care Center.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service of his life will be held at Parkview Care Center on Friday, April 15, at 2 p.m.
