Beryl Jean Rubich, of Billings, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at her home after a long illness.
She was born April 19, 1930, to Violette and Earle Romek.
Beryl grew up in Belfry and, in 1943, moved to Red Lodge. She graduated from Carbon County High in Red Lodge 1948 and from Billings Business College. She was a musician, playing flute, piano and organ, and also belonged to Rainbow Girls.
On Sept. 18, 1948, she married Chris Rubich in Red Lodge and moved to Billings. The couple had six children.
Beryl was a homemaker, then worked for the Yellowstone County Clerk and Recorder's Office after her husband's 1963 death. After 31 years working for the county, she retired from the office as chief deputy.
Beryl was a member of First Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School, and of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron.
Her parents and a daughter, Carol, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandy and William E. Rubich, Christine Rubich, Linda Hodges, Keith Rubich and Susan and Rocky Smith, all of Billings; her sister, Shirley Wegner, of Billings; her brother, Robert Dean Romek, of Arvada, Colo.; her sisters-in-law, Bosa and Opal Rubich, of Billings; a brother-in-law, Richard Schreiber, of Billings; her grandchildren and their spouses, Ronnie and Kayla Hodges, of Columbus; Matt and Telma Rausch, of Missoula; Charles and Jamie Rubich, of Yuma, Ariz.; and Brandy Hodges, Christopher Rubich, William and Maria Rubich, Michael Smith and James Rubich, all of Billings; her great-grandchildren K.D. Locken, of Helena, Sean Kennah and Brianna Macioroski, of Billings, and Adrianna Rubich, of Yuma; many nieces and nephews; and special neighbors Mary and Mark Stabio and their children Katie, David and John.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Private burial services will take place the following day.
