Bette Joy Bawden Welch, 52, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018. Join the family for a Celebration of her Life on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at the Play Inn.
She was born on the 23 of Oct., 1965 to John and Joan Bawden of Billings, Mt. Bette was the youngest child of six. She graduated from Billings Senior High and furthered her education later in life by attending paralegal training, going on to work in that field. She worked for the defense team in the Montana Freeman trials. She held positions for the City of Bozeman and at the Yellowstone County Justice Court. Bette worked for the county for many years and enjoyed many friends and coworkers there including her daughter. She had a love for exploring the mountains in search of crystals, her cats, AC/DC and always waited impatiently for her beloved grandson to visit. She loved spending Saturday mornings with her daughter and grandson.
Bette married Alan Abelman. During their marriage, they had one daughter, Allison. Though they were later divorced, they remained close in order to raise their daughter and enjoy their grandson. Bette married her current husband Matt Welch several years ago. They enjoyed their home overlooking the lake. Matt was a supportive husband, especially during her final months.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Welch, daughter Allison (Norm) VanDyke, and grandson Frank, three sisters and two brothers. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Bette touched a lot of lives and she will be missed by all who knew her.
