WHITEHALL - Betty Johnson, age 75, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Butte Convalescent Center at Butte.
She was born Nov. 8, 1927, at Glendive, to Thomas and Emily (Livingston) Ward. As a young girl, she was raised and attended school near Glendive. She married George Johnson, Feb. 8, 1946. They then resided in Glendive, later moving to Mandan, N.D.; Livingston; Springdale, where they ranched until 1981; and then moved to Whitehall.
She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church at Whitehall, teaching the preschoolers Sunday School. She also enjoyed gardening and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a son, Larry Johnson; two brothers, Dean and LaVern Ward; and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband, George Johnson of Whitehall; sons, Bobby and Anne Johnson of Terry, Marty and Tammy Johnson of Whitehall, Calvin and Michelle Johnson of Whitehall; daughter, Patsy Ballard of Whitehall; daughter-in-law, Jodi Smilely of Boulder; three brothers, Milan and Dorothy Ward of Mandan, N.D., Charles and Harriet of Billings, Bob and Anita Ward of Belgrade; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Memorials are preferred to the Assembly of God Church at Whitehall or donor's choice.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28, at 11 a.m., from the Scott Funeral Home in Whitehall. A private interment will follow at a later date in the Dawson County Cemetery at Glendive.
