Bonnie Gayle (Holloway) Ekholm, 77, of Billings, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the lovely Canyon Creek Memory Care Facility, surrounded by family and wonderful caregivers.
Bonnie was born on July 9, 1934, in Rochester, Minn., to Earl and Hannah Holloway. Bonnie had two sisters, Mary Jane Sethre and Delores Crawley. Bonnie married Loyal Ekholm of Preston, Minn., on May 22, 1953. Bonnie and Loyal (who was career Navy) lived in Naples, Italy, for two years and later settled in Norfolk, Va. Upon retiring, they moved back to Minnesota, where they were owners of Tamarac Lodge and Resort at Round Lake. After Loyal's death in 1993, Bonnie moved to Billings to be close to her daughter and family.
Bonnie was an active member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in the Heights and volunteered at a local nursing home for over 15 years in the activities department. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church for many years.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, sisters and parents.
She is survived by her children, Loyal Ekholm of Californa, Larry Ekholm of Wyoming, Bonnie Erickson of Montana and Lane Ekholm of Colorado. Bonnie is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Cremation & Funeral Gallery on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 2 p.m.
