Budd Clarence Benfit was born Oct. 4th, 1935, in Aberdeen, S.D., to parents Veronica (Dosch) and Clarence Benfit, second generation Americans from German/Russian emigrants. Budd's journey ended on this earth on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at his home in Billings, with his family.

Budd grew up in Aberdeen and was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He graduated from Central High School in 1954. After high school, he married Priscilla Shuldheisz. Budd entered the Army National Guard and served for many years. He went to work for SuperValu, where he retired after 47 years.

He loved his music, photography, fishing and spending time in the mountains of Montana and Idaho. He took his children rock hunting, metal detecting, sapphire mining, to auctions and to the family farm every summer as children. Budd loved all animals and all children were special; together, Budd and Priscilla provided a safe place where both were welcome.

Budd is survived by his wife Priscilla; brother Dennis Benfit; cousin George Benfit; four children Robert (Linda) Benfit, Kim Benfit, Rebecca Benfit and Troy (Kristi) Benfit; five grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Tabron, Joshua (Nani) Whitcher, Nathaniel (Barb) Benfit, Teddy (Jennifer) Benfit, and Maya Benfit; nine great-grandchildren, Elijah, Delton, Damion, Dustin, Jason, Christina, Jaida, Jazmyn, Isaiah and one more on the way due on Budd's Birthday. Budd is also survived by his great friends Dale Hert, Rick Green, Greg Braaten and Justin Buckley.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Memorials can be made to the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

Budd loved all his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
