During the early morning hours on April 19, immersed in the love of her family, our matriarch, Carole A. Waples, surrendered and embraced eternal peace. She was born Nov. 20,1939, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Albert and Helen Hansen. She spent her youth in Birney, Mont., where her parents owned and operated a sawmill, and she graduated from Colstrip High School and Billings Business College.

Carole was a successful businesswoman throughout her lifetime. She retired from Montana Power and continued to work in her thriving accounting and tax business, which was located in Colstrip, Mont. She was an active member of the Colstrip community, especially the Loyal Order of the Moose, 2190, Chapter 39, for many years. She enjoyed assisting the Lodge with their bookkeeping. She was an astute businesswoman who also was passionate about creating and cooking fabulous meals. She donated many hours at the Moose Lodge preparing meals to tantalize the taste buds of Lodge and community members. Her fervor for creating food to pleasure the palate was also bestowed upon her family. She pleasured in gathering her family to share the cuisine she had prepared, especially her famous prime rib.

Carole and Bruce relocated to Shepard, Mont., in 2005. She continued to be an active member in the community (The Fiddlers Club, The Lions Club, Senior Citizens). She enjoyed the peacefulness of her home and creating the landscaping which caressed it.

Our matriarch was the foundation of our family. She loved and accepted all of us unconditionally. She lived to experience and observe her beloveds tackle challenges and hurdle the obstacles of life while successfully pursuing their dreams and obtaining their goals. We will no longer be able to stop by her home to feast on her fabulous food, but we find comfort in knowing that she is busy in Heaven reuniting with our loved ones who crossed over before her.

Carole is survived by her siblings; Barb (Bud) Orelup, Ben Hansen; her partner of 34 years, Bruce Jacobson; her children Brenda (Richard) Hamilton, Doug Waples;her step-children Lane (Cindy) Jacobson, Noel (Mona) Jacobson. She is adored by her grandchildren, Michael (Olivia) Sample, Jeremy (Dagan) Sample, TJ (Tasha) Anthony, Lacie (Brad) Morris, Shanae (Cory) Sittner, Dymond and Jentry Waples, Sierra Jacobson, Blade, Callie, Jack and Mace Jacobson. She is great-grandmother to ten and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She filled our hearts with love and care from the seeds that she planted there.

We miss your physical presence in our lives deeply but we find comfort in knowing that you are in our memories and hearts forever.

Carole's celebration of life service will be held at the Elks Lodge, which is located at 934 Lewis Ave. Billings, April 30, at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.
