Christian A. "Chris" was born on Dec. 14, 1909, Kenmare, N.D., the son of Martin and Anna (Meincke) Iversen. At the age of 5 years old, the family moved to the Sidney area. Chris attended the schools at Hardy and Ridgelawn. He later attended a winter quarter at the Dana College in Blair, Neb. After returning to the Sidney area, Chris was united in marriage to Naomi Frandsen on Nov. 10, 1936, in Sidney. Together, they lived on the family farm, north of Sidney, where they raised their family. In the fall of 1992, Chris moved into town and faithfully visited Naomi at Extended Care until she passed away in April 1993. Chris moved into The Lodge at Lone Tree Creek in October 2000.
Chris was an active member of the Pella Lutheran Church, singing in the Pella Men's Quartet, Church Choir, teaching Sunday School and volunteering his services and holding offices where needed. Chris enjoyed farming, especially working with the cattle and took an interest in the family farm until his death. He served on several boards, including Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project for 33 years, Sidney Public School Board and Ridgelawn School Board. Chris was a faithful volunteer at the Sidney Extended Care Facility for the past 13 years.
Chris took an active interest in his children's lives and was always there to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and each one had a special place in his heart.
Chris passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2003, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care Facility.
