Darlyne L. Roods, 83, of Billings, passed away Saturday morning, May 31, 2014. She was born the oldest of four children to Earl Grady and Grace Ryerson Grady of Valley City, N.D., on Oct. 21, 1930. She graduated valedictorian from Marmot High School in Mandan, N.D., on May 31, 1949. She continued her education with Dakota Business School for accounting.
On June 18, 1950, she married Lloyd B. Herman, and in this marriage, they had three children. In 1958, Lloyd and Darlyne moved to Billings. She worked at Parker Montana and Midland Implement as an accountant.
On May 9, 1968, she remarried to Louis R. Roods and became a rancher’s wife on Pryor Creek. Later, she started a cleaning service with her daughter in 1977.
Darlyne was preceded in death by her father Earl Grady; mother Grace Abercrombie; Lloyd Herman; Louis Roods; a grandson-in-law, Jack R. Harris; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Herman.
She is survived by her sons Earl Herman (Julie), of Billings, Scott Herman, of Colstrip, and daughter Pamela Jackson (Jess), of Billings; six grandchildren, Arlo Riedl, of Denver, Nathan Jackson (Alana), Troy Jackson, Sunni Grace Harris, of Billings, Louis and Ben Herman, of Colstrip; seven great-grandchildren, Tim, Tristan and Teonna Riedl, of Bozeman, Elizabeth, Jacob, Ethan and Chloe Harris, of Billings. She is also survived by a brother, Pat Grady, of Washington; sister Ellene Mueller, of Hawaii, and sister Peggy Grady, of South Dakota; and her little dog, Toby. She always wished to have a grandchild born on her birthday and received that wish when Chloe was born Oct. 21, 2013.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a future date. We will miss you mom - grandma until we meet again, love always...
