CROW AGENCY - David Bravo, 79, of Crow Agency, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2003, in the Crow IHS Hospital.

Baakakaa'xxinneesh "To save things," was born March 27, 1924, near Lodge Grass, a son of Art and Alberta Bloodman Bravo. He grew up and received his education in Lodge Grass. Following his education, he worked as a ranch-hand for several area farms and ranches.

David married Myrtle Kills and she preceded him in death. He later had a common-law wife, Sandra Other Medicine.

He was a member of the Catholic Church, Big Lodge Clan and was a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan. During his younger years, he broke wild horses, hunted in the Big Horn Mountains and took part in arrow throwing events. He also participated in the Sun Dance.

His parents; three sons, Michael, Darrel and Jeremiah; and two daughters, Janice and Annie, preceded David in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Crow Agency; two sons, Dennis (Carlotta) and Tyron Bravo of Lodge Grass; two daughters, Bernadine (Rick) Evans of Washington and Davene (Archie) Big Lake of Hardin; his stepdaughters, Caroline (Lawrence) Big Hair, Farah (Avery) Pretty on Top and Megan Jefferson; his stepson, Gordon (Raylena) Tobacco; a half-sister, Mary Ann Bear Below; an adopted daughter, Genieva Chandler; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended family including the Not Afraid, Backbone, Pretty on Top, Walks, Bear Below and Left Hand families.

Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in the Lodge Grass Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
