RED LODGE — On Feb. 3, 2019, David Rattin, 71, of Red Lodge passed away peacefully in his sleep. He loved the outdoors, bowling, Red Lodge and its people. Dave may have been seen by many on any day having coffee with his buddies at the Town Pump. Family and friends will miss his quiet smile, sense of humor, and honest communication.
Dave was born March 27, 1947, and graduated from Red Lodge High in 1966. He had a busy career starting at the Red Lodge Cannery and then transitioned to maintenance at Red Lodge High, Scott Motors, and retired from Rock Creek Resort. Varied maintenance jobs in the area and work for neighbors kept him active in retirement. Additionally, he worked on the family farm his entire life and assisted mother Leola in staying on the farm after the loss of father Hugo in 2014.
He is survived by mother Leola Rattin of Red Lodge; sister Connie Evans of Olympia, Washington; sister Kathi Dew with Howard of Bend, Oregon; and brother Fred Rattin with Renee of Dickinson, North Dakota. Dave had eight nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews. Family was important to Dave and all have fun memories of Dave from playing board games and cards at family gatherings. Dave was son, brother, uncle, great uncle and a true friend to all.
