April 6, 1936 - Jan. 13, 2009
Dolores Fisher, affectionately known as "Deo," age 72, widow of the late treasure hunter Mel Fisher, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 13, 2009, at her home in Montana. Dolores was born to Evalyn And Emery Horton in Worden. She lived on a farm just west of Pompey's Pillar until the family moved to California only to return to Billings a year later. After completing 10th grade at Billings High School, her family moved to California, where she met and married Mel Fisher and her life turned into fun, romance and adventure in the pioneering of scuba diving and treasure hunting. She returned to Billings for the past year enjoying the beauty of Montana and renewing old friendships.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation or to the Hospice Foundation.
Deo is survived by two sisters, Nadine Sotzin and Judy Stoffen; three sons, Terry Fisher, Kim Fisher and Kane Fisher; one daughter, Taffi Abt; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her generous laugh and optimism will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
