WORDEN — Eugene George Reiter, 71, of Worden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb.13, 2011. Eugene was born to George and Amelia (Oblander) Reiter on Dec. 1, 1939. He was the youngest of three children. Eugene was raised on the family farm in Worden and attended Huntley Project School, graduating in 1957. While in school, he was involved in FFA and band. He loved agriculture and therefore stayed to help on the farm in every way he could. He took a one-year correspondence course on radio and TV repair, graduating in 1960.
On Jan. 20, 1962, he married Carol Mae Hoehne. Along with farming and repair work, he and his wife raised many chickens and sold eggs to many people and businesses in the area.
After being in the egg business for 16 years, he continued raising alfalfa and grain and began driving school bus for Bob Hari. He drove bus for 10 years. In the fall of '91, he went to work full time as maintenance/custodian for Huntley Project Schools. During this time, he also drove school bus as a substitute. He retired in 2007.
Eugene enjoyed being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his honesty and integrity, his easygoing nature and his affection for people.
He was a member of the Worden Open Bible Church and had faithfully lived his life dedicated to his Lord and Savior.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children Nancy Reiter of Maryland, Diane (Cliff) Morehouse of Worden, Dave (Diane) Reiter of Colorado, Steven Reiter of Laurel, Susan (Al) Johnson of Superior; his beloved grandchildren, John Morehouse of North Dakota, Daniel Morehouse of Billings, John, Sarah and Allyson Reiter of Colorado, Daphne Johnson of North Dakota, and Brittney Johnson of Superior; a sister, Evelyn (Bill) Cline of Billings; and brother-in-law, Tom Baum of Ballantine. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris Baum; and nephew Lonnie Baum.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Valley Baptist Church, located at the corner of Road 8 and Highway 312 in Huntley. Interment will follow at the Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation begins 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Smith Downtown Chapel, located at 925 S. 27th St.
