Everett Edward Bauer was born on July 20, 1940, in Jackson Township, Sac County, Iowa, a son of Herman and Hilda Bauer. Everett passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, in Billings at the age of 71.
Always willing to help anyone in need, Everett was a good husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and no mechanical challenge ever went unmet. He enjoyed restoring and collecting classic cars, and passed this passion on to his son, Brad. He loved the outdoors, and spent many happy days trapping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Everett especially enjoyed his Canadian fishing trips later in life.
As a young man, Everett worked on area ranches, at the ski runs at Red Lodge and Polaris, was a wildland firefighter and served as Public Works Director for the City of Red Lodge. He was also employed by Studer Construction and Briarwood Country Club in Billings.
On Feb. 29, 1984, Everett married Elaine Rintala, and they had two children, Brad and Kate (Dad's sweet pea).
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Toivo Rintala; brother-in-law, Larry Rintala; son-in-law, Rod Wolfe; three half-sisters and one half-brother.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Bauer of Billings; son and daughter, Brad and Kate of Billings; daughters, Becky Wolfe of Billings, Hope Izell of Burnet, Texas, and Margaret (David) Savilonis of Bertram, Texas; son, Mark Moe of Portland, Ore.; and several grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dick (Kay) Bauer of Red Lodge and Bill (Marlene) Bauer of Henderson, Nev., and numerous nieces and nieces.
In accordance with Everett's wishes, no service will be held. Private burial will be Thursday, Jan. 5, in the Red Lodge Cemetery. Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to charity of one's choice.
