BUSBY - Florence Rowland, 80, of rural Busby, passed away Thursday morning, May 29, 2003, in the Billings St. Vincent Hospital.
Ame'tse'he'e, "Walking Women," was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Busby, a daughter of James Wilson and Martha Yellow Eagle. She grew up in the Busby area, where she received her education. She later attended college for one year.
Florence married Ben Rowland on Dec. 24, 1940, in Busby. The couple made their home in Sheridan, Wyo., until moving to Billings, returning to the Busby area in 1958. Mr. Rowland passed away in December of 1971.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Florence worked as an instructional aide at the Busby School for a number of years. In her spare time she enjoyed beading and sewing.
Two sons, Randy and Zack; and a daughter, Noma, preceded Florence in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Esther Yellowrobe of Lame Deer and Rebecca Hatfield of Kirby; two brothers, George Wilson of Ashland and Peter John Wilson of Lame Deer; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Wake services will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, in the Busby Christ the King Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, in the Church. Interment will follow in the Rowland Family Cemetery near Kirby. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
