LAUREL — Frances Marie Schillinger, 85, passed away Sept. 19, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 7, 1927, in Wilton, N.D., she later moved to Washington with her mother. During the war years she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” at the Kaiser Shipyards. After the war she married her sweetheart and settled down and raised a family of six. During those years they would also take in people in need and help them get back on their feet.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; son Tim; and siblings Alec, Carl and Paulene.
She is survived by her children Jean (Bill) McLeod, Jo (Jon) Keippel, Mary Schillinger, Mike (Bev) Schillinger, Terry (Vickie) Schillinger; grandchildren Jon (April) Keippel, Joe (Cheryl) McLeod, Tina (Bill) Collington, Tammy (Dennis) Traurig, Michelle (Dennis) Mack, Annie (Tyler) Nelson, Maggie Wood, Melisa, Staci and Christie Schillinger; great-grandchildren Ben, Sophia, Scott, Kiara, Josh, Liz, Dillon, Jessie, Jolene, Will, Melisa, Alysia, Brittney, Kiana, Kaden, Kylie.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel and no services are planned at this time.
