Our dear father, Frank Svec, went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2018. Dad was born on June 22, 1921 in Pierce County, Wisconsin on the family farm, the youngest son of Frank and Mary Svec. As a young man, he developed an appreciation for music and learned the value of a strong work ethic. His father taught him to play the clarinet and along with others formed the Svec Bohemian Band.
Frank married Jane Eaton in 1943 in Wisconsin and three years later they moved to Montana where he became a block layer and an accomplished home builder in Billings. Dad lovingly took care of his family, took great pride in his work, raised beautiful gardens, enjoyed square dancing, fishing with family, traveled extensively and had a wonderful sense of humor.
After retirement, Dad enjoyed walking, reading and going to the Billings Senior Citizen center each Friday to play pinochle.
He is survived by his daughters Phyllis (Byron), Cindy (Marv), and a son Roger (Elaine). Dad was so blessed to have 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, his three siblings, and his daughter Ellen and son-in-law Joe.
Our very special thanks to Dr. Michael Hagan for his wonderful care and concern for our dad. We are also grateful for the kind, compassionate care Dad received from the staff at Yellowstone Manor at Tender Nest. We're appreciative of the attentive care from Compassus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to COR Enterprises, 2121 Lampman Dr. Billings, MT or The Montana Rescue Mission.
A private family graveside service is planned.
