Glen Johnson, 88, died at Highgate Senior Living on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010.
Born on June 10, 1922, in Ambrose, N.D., Glen was the son of Gunder and Inga Johnson. Glen's mother died during childbirth and he was raised in Crosby by his maternal aunt and uncle. By the time he reached the eighth grade, he had to quit school and worked with his father on various farms, mainly on his maternal aunt's place. At the age of 20, Glen joined the military, serving in the 9th Air Force in the military police, mostly guarding airplanes. He served in Normandy, northern France and central Europe. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a construction laborer, starting in Williston, N.D., following jobs and ending up in Billings.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by distant relatives in North Dakota and many friends he has made over the years in Billings.
Graveside services and interment will be in the Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery in Laurel with military honors on Friday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m.
