Grace Shaffer left this world Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, due to the complications of dementia. Family and friends had told this wonderful woman good-bye over a year ago as they felt they had lost her when she no longer knew them or was mentally alert.
Grace was born in Olewin, Iowa, Aug. 15, 1932, and lived many years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, working as a Registered Nurse, and Albuquerque, N.M. as a drug and alcohol rehab counselor, then moving to Billings after several years of retirement to be close to her daughter DiAnne Shaffer as her mental health diminished, living at St. John’s Garden Court her final five years of life.
Grace is survived by daughters DiAnne Shaffer (Debbie Fuhrer) of Billings, Katherine Cooper (Steve Correa) of Albuquerque, N.M.; son Cameron Shaffer (Mary) of La Quinta, Calif.; and granddaughters Rachel and Candice Cooper, Albuquerque.
The body has been cremated and no services are planned. A celebration of Grace’s life will be held when family can be together.
Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cfgbillings.com through “Our Families.”
