RED LODGE — Harry James "Jim" Van Ornum Jr. passed away in Red Lodge Jan. 18, 2019, at the age of 92. Jim grew up in Highland Park, Illinois. He enlisted in the Naval V5 Flight Program in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received a B.S. degree in Math and Economics from DePauw University, where he was an Alpha Tau Omega.
While at DePauw, he met and married Barbara Bogan in 1947. They raised three sons and a daughter. They owned cattle ranches near Livingston; Endangered Species Art & Antique Marked in Naples, Florida; and Red Onion Supper club and Blue Goose Fishing Camp in Cook, Minnesota.
Jim was a loving husband and father and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was a founding member of the Four Square church, Word of Life Fellowship. There was a private family celebration of Jim’s life in Red Lodge on Jan. 26, with Alex Chai officiating.
