On April 29, 2003, Helen Rupert, 87, died peacefully of natural causes, after a long battle with declining health.
Helen was born in NuMine, Pa., in 1915, completed high school then went directly into nurse's training in Pittsburgh. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 1983; and her brothers, Ben and Guido Oddi. She is survived by her sons, Keith Rupert (Nancy), Billings, and Jerry Rupert (Helen), Houston, Texas; and her brother, Victor Oddi; by her grandchildren, Randy Rupert (Coryll), Portland, Ore., Katie Ruff (Chris), Seattle, Brandy Jacobson (Ty), Las Vegas, Bree Garcia (Brett), Houston, Scott Rupert, Billings, Kelly Rupert, Billings; and by her great-grandchild Abigail Ruff, Seattle.
Helen will be remembered by her family for her caregiving, direct talk, wry sense of humor, and brave battle to remain self reliant as her health failed.
