RED LODGE — Irma Margaret (Doty) Capps, 97, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. She was a longtime resident of Red Lodge.
Irma was born on Sept. 10, 1915, on the family ranch near Roberts, a daughter of Albert Orr Doty and Margaret Flower (Orange) Doty. Irma was soon joined by a sister Ellen, then a brother, Jean, and after moving to Red Lodge, a sister, Mary.
Irma Graduated from Carbon County High School in 1934. She was employed by Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph in Red Lodge for over 25 years, including many years as chief operator.
On September 3, 1947, Irma was united in marriage to Curtis H. Capps in Red Lodge. They were married for 37 years before Curtis passed away in 1984.
Irma dearly loved her church family at the Red Lodge Community Church where she was very active in many roles over the years. She was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was very active in the Festival of Nations, Order of the Eastern Star, P.T.A., Brownies and Rainbow Girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Ellen.
Survivors include one brother, Jean Doty of Yuma, Ariz., and Washington State; one sister, Mary Mendenhall of Lewistown; one daughter, Kitt Quinn, two grandchildren, Vanessa Richardson and Chris Quinn, and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Quinn Hodges and Damon Richardson, all of Red Lodge; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special cousin, Tom Abrahams of Billings.
Irma was a strong, quiet, shining example for us to follow. We love her and will miss her greatly.
A memorial service is planned for late spring at the Red Lodge Community Church, and will be announced at a later date. Cremation has taken place, and interment will be in the John Henry Cemetery. Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Red Lodge Community Church or to the Montana Rescue Mission.
