Jean Marilyn Beslanowitch passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2009, with her children at her bedside.

Jean was born Nov. 12, 1938 to Martin and Julia (Kinsfather) Linse, the youngest of three children and only daughter. Growing up on a local farm, Jean helped her mother and kept up with two older brothers. During her teen years, she worked at the MotorVu drive-in and ran around with her best friend, Liz. She and her brothers and all their gang raced their homemade speedboat and water-skied at Lake Elmo. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1956, and attended Eastern Montana College for a two-year business degree. She worked as a secretary in the gas and oil industry.

Jean married James Andrew Beslanowitch on Nov. 6, 1960 in First English Lutheran Church. She stayed at home to raise two children, Lance and Laurie, and helped in the Beslanowitch family grocery store, Joe's Market, while the kids were in school.

In her early years she loved fishing with her husband, Jim, and the family went camping often. One of her favorite places was Red Lodge, and she visited the town and the mountains as often as she could, enjoying the scenery and picnics with family and friends. She also raised and showed Ossa, her beloved Newfoundland dog, during this time.

Jean inherited a green-thumb from her mother and enjoyed flowers and gardening. In later life, she took up raising orchids with Jim, and they spent many pleasant hours in the greenhouse.

Family dinners, especially at the holidays, were very important to her, and she shined as an exceptional cook and hostess. After Jim passed, she reconnected with the friends of her youth, Liz Lutton and Joanne Quittschreiber, for weekly luncheons that she looked forward to. Jean loved her role as wife and mother, and lived it devotedly to the very end.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and survived by her son, Lance; her daughter, Laurie; her grand-dog, Tres; her brothers, Robert and Roy and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will held from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at First English Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left for the family at
