Jerre Pugh was born April 6, 1928, in Pea Ridge, Arkansas to Perry C. and Meryl (Swift) Sharp. She passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at WestPark Village in Billings, under the care of RiverStone Hospice with her daughter by her side.
Jerre had one sibling, Barbara Doenges Green of Olney, Illinois.
Jerre grew up in Noble, Illinois. She married James Wright, with whom she had a son, Jim of Phoenix, and daughter Cynthia Wright of Billings. She raised their children in Havre. She was employed in the county assessor’s office from 1958 to 1968.
In 1968, she married Jack Sterrett, a local dairy farmer and lineman for Triangle Telephone and Rural Electric Company, in Havre. Jack died in a job-related accident in Aug. 1972.
In July 1976, Jerre married John E. Pugh of Havre. The enjoyed 40 years together. John was pastor of United Methodist Churches in Havre and Worland, Wyoming, moving to Billings where they organized Hope United Methodist Church in Billings Heights (which celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2016). They also served three years in Laurel. They retired in 1990 and moved back to Billings.
Jerre loved her home and was a talented homemaker. She was loved by her family and the people in the churches where they served.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and husbands Jim and Jack. Jerre is survived by her husband John, her children, Jim and Cynthia, and her step-children, Mark Pugh of Conrad and Lydia (Rick) Tinnis and Beth Pugh of Billings. She received much affection from her furry grand-cat and dogs.
Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at the Hope United Methodist Church, 244 Wicks Lane in Billings Heights, with a reception to follow at the church.
