KINGMAN, Ariz. — Jerry Schmitz, of Kingman, went to meet his maker on Jan. 25, 2011, at the Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman, due to complications of a lifelong problem with diabetes.
Jerry was born in Sidney, Mont., on May 12, 1933, to Al and Bernice (Williams) Schmitz. He attended all his schooling in Sidney and graduated with the class of 1951.
After graduation, Jerry attended Eastern Montana College in Billings, then taught for a period of time in western Montana. He then taught at the Bureau of Indian Affairs before going to California to work for the Federal Prison System as a teacher. Jerry retired from the prison system and moved to Kingman, where he has made his home for the past 20 years.

Survivors include his three sisters, Marlene Brenden of Dayton, Nev., Charlene Ford of Albuquerque, N.M., and Marsha Christiansen of Billings; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
