ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Joan Fryrear Bolton Kliewer, formerly of Billings, died April 18, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Care Center. Joan was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Pueblo, Colo., and resided in Billings during her younger years and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1941.
After returning from college in Virginia, she married Ted Bolton, who had just returned from serving in the Air Force. They operated Motel Shangri-La in St. Joseph for 20 years and raised their three sons, Shannon, and twin sons Donald and Ronald.
Joan will be remembered as a very talented musician who served as a charter member of the St. Joseph Symphony. Joan taught and educated many children about the violin. Joan and Ted had many friends in the Billings area.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Shannon and Zella Fryrear; brother Mickey; and sons Shannon and Donald.
