Jonathan Paul Schneider, 71, of Laurel, passed away on March 29, 2019 at his winter home in Alamo, Texas. Jon was born to Herman and Eileen Schneider on Sept. 16, 1947 in Billings. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1967, and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He married his high school sweetheart Carolyn (Tootie) Vogel on August 31, 1968. Jon and Tootie setteled in Stockton, California, where they raised their three children. They moved back to Laurel in 1999, happy to return to their roots. Jon graduated from college in 1977 and enjoyed a career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton for 22 years, then retiring from St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings in 2006. He loved working with children with respiratory diseases, and enjoyed being a preceptor to many Respiratory students. He also loved being with his kids, grandkids, and great- granddaughters.
In 2008, Jon and Tootie started spending their winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, where they met some wonderful new friends.
Jon and Tootie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last August with their family and friends.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joni, and brother-in-law Paul Vogel. Jon is survived by his wife, Tootie; daughter Julie (Ross) Bloebaum, son Jon Jr. (Sarah), son Todd, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-granddaughters. Jon is also survived by his brother Tony (Sandie), and their family. Services are pending.
