Kathryn Jean Castle, 68, died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, after a long illness.
She was born to Dewey and Ethel Krohn on Aug. 22, 1940, in Sheridan, Wyo., the youngest of six siblings.
She married Howard Ernest Castle on Nov. 6, 1957, in San Diego. As Howard was in the U.S. Navy, they moved often, residing in locations as diverse as Honolulu; Lemoore, Calif.; Newport News, Va.; Charleston, S.C.; Issaquah, Wash.; and Sheridan, Wyo., before moving to Billings in 1977.
Jean was active in her children's activities, including Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She loved camping and wildlife, as well as crafts, such as sewing and woodworking.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ross, Pete and Ralph; and her sister, Margaret.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; her sister, Ruth of Ranchester, Wyo.; her four children, Teresa Renné Pelesky of Billings, Pamala Jean Castle of Billings, Lori Sue Miller of Billings and Howard Ernest Castle II of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 11 ½ great-grandchildren.
Cremation will occur and a service will take place at Smith Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
