Lillian Jean Hinkle, 80, passed away Jan. 8, 2009, at her home in Billings. She was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Lewistown, the daughter of Clyde and Dolly (Madden) Kingsland. She grew up in Shonkin, Mont., and attended school in Fort Benton. Jean married Cecil Heidlebaugh and they had five children whom she raised as she waitressed and went to Cosmetology School, and then worked several years as a hairdresser in Great Falls.
On July 3, 1971, she married Daniel Hinkle in Great Falls. They later moved to Helena, where they worked for Best Western, traveling across the county for 15 years. They owned and managed hotels until they retired in Columbia Falls. When Dan died in 2003, Jean moved to Helena, where she volunteered at St. Peters Hospital. She moved to Great Falls to be near friends and then to Billings in 2007 to be closer to family. Playing pinochle, volunteering at the Senior Center, visiting friends and family were some of Jean's favorite activities.
Jean is survived by her children, Dennis (Renee) Heidlebaugh, Connie (Jerry) Overmier, Tim (Jackie) Heidlebaugh, James (Mary) Heidlebaugh and Roger (Sherry) Heidlebaugh; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and her sister, Violet.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Terrace Gardens, following a luncheon at Dahl Chapel.
