Luella Doom, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Laurel Health and Rehab Center. Her last hours were filled with family and friends. She was born on Oct. 28, 1924 in Laurel, to Lester and Lois (Goman) Boylan. She married Jacob Kiesz in 1943. They had three children: Jerry, Larry, and Jacqueline. He died in a tractor accident in 1947. She married David Behm in 1948. They had three children: Katherine, David, and Karen. He died in an auto accident in 1961. She married Walter (Russ) Doom in Cody, Wyoming, in 1968. He died in 2005. She went back to school after 25 years and became a nurse. She worked for 30 years in nursing homes, and Big Sky Hospice until retirement. She was very proud of her nursing career. She was a member of the Park City American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Center, and the Laurel Senior Center. She loved her family and friends and did all she could to keep her family together by cooking holiday meals and planning family reunions. She would greet everyone with a friendly ‘Hi Kid!’ She loved dancing to the Old Time Fiddlers, good music, playing piano, cards and board games. She enjoyed her garden and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Dorothy Simonsen, Bonnie Miller, Alta Shay, Carol Ketterling; her brother James Boylan; her husbands; her children Jerry Kiesz, Jackie Kiesz, Kathy (Roger) Faw, Karen (Jim) Dempewolf; her grandchildren Derek Behm, Dawn (Lonnie) Puderbaugh. She is survived by her sisters Thelma Shay, Betty Keane, Jessie Kukes; her children Larry (Maurine) Kiesz, Dave (Joyce) Behm and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
We will miss Mom very much but know she is in a better place and was greeted with a ‘Hi Kid! Welcome home’. We would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Laurel Health and Rehab Center for their kindness and loving care of our mother during her residency there and during her final days.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 307 4th St, Laurel followed by interment of the urn at Laurel Cemetery.
