REED POINT — Lu was born to James and Easter Friend, of Reed Point. She was raised with brothers James, Thomas, Earl and sister Phoebe.
She married William Kenneth Goddard on March 10, 1938. They had five children: Kenneth L. (Marna) Goddard, Diana L. (Bob) Wood, Frank Thomas (Tom) Goddard, Janet M. Goddard and Patricia L. (Tom) Robertson.
Lu’s door was always open and strangers never stepped through it. Her family and the care of them were the most important things to her.
She loved cooking for her family and always made sure to keep everyone well fed. She oversaw cooking even when limitations made her take a supervisor’s roll.
Lu was a natural born caregiver and was proud of her life as an LPN. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her nephew Jerry, other family and close friend of Reed Point.
Shopping was a great pleasure; she looked forward to her days spent with Mark and Cheryl.
She was involved in the community and the sheep drive. Lu was proud to be Grand Marshal one year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, husband, son Kenneth (Pete), grandson Mike Wood, and nephews Jimmy McDaniels and Gene Friend.
She is survived by her daughters Diana (Bob) Wood of Laurel, Janet Goddard of Billings, Patricia (Tom) Robertson of Roundup; son Franklin Thomas (Tom) Goddard of Reed Point, daughter-in-law Marna; nephew Jerry Friend; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Smith Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Reed Point Evangelical Church, with Reverend Bob Conover officiating.
