Marlene Ruth Sandvig, 76, of Billings, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at St. Vincent Healthcare.
Marlene was born Aug. 31, 1936, to Frank and Ruby VanCampen in Columbus, Mont. She grew up and went to school at Mountain View country school south of Columbus on Huntley Butte, and graduated from Columbus High in 1954.
She married Walter J. Sandvig and they had one son, Scott.
Marlene was a telephone operator in Livingston and Billings. She drove school bus for Western Transit in Billings, then moved to Opheim, Mont., for a short time and drove school bus there. After returning to Billings, she drove MET Transit buses for many years; her favorite route was the Grand Avenue Express, and some of her favorite passengers were special needs kids.
She enjoyed riding horses with family and friends, riding through the hills in Jimmy’s old Ford, and staying at Grandma’s house in Columbus.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruby; and in-laws Jack and Audrey Sandvig.
She is survived by her son Scott (Sandy) Sandvig; granddaughter Brandi (Travis) Davis; great-granddaughter Kyndall Davis; sister Frances J. (Herman) Fox; and numerous cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
