Mary Jeanette Horn, age 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Ministries in Billings.
She was born on April 5, 1922, in Chicago, to John H. and Clara W. Chandler. She spent the first years of her life in Riverside, Ill., before moving to Mission Ridge in 1998. At Mission Ridge, she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. An avid reader, she enjoyed reading many books on her e-reader and listening to recorded sermons from First United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Horn, and by her daughter, Miriam J. Burks.
Mary is survived by her sister, Virginia Booth of New Braunfels, Texas; daughter, Barbara (Lew) Gundlach of Billings; Donald Horn of Colorado Springs; granddaughters, Tracy Bisterfeldt and Donna (Troy) Weingart; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Austin Weingart; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. John's for the compassionate care they gave to Mary.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Mission Ridge Lillis Chapel, 3840 Rimrock Road, with Pastor Tim Hathaway officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Montana Rescue Mission, First United Methodist Church, or charity of your choice.
