The sky is not quite so blue, the flowers not so fragrant and the sunshine not as bright. Phyllis Ann Jaksha passed away at St. Vincent Healthcare on Aug. 24, 2012.

Phyllis was born in Butte to Catherine and Phillip Broad on May 20, 1936. She attended St. John’s Grade School and Girls Central High School. While in high school, she met the love of her life, William Jaksha. Together, she and Bill raised three boys: William Philip, Gerald Joseph and Michael James.

Phyllis adored flowers and their yard was always absolutely beautiful. If you came to their home to stay, she always had a bouquet of flowers in the bedroom waiting for you. She loved playing the piano and could entertain you for hours on end. And she could certainly make you laugh with the jokes she could tell. It didn’t matter if she was at the YMCA swimming or square dancing with Bill, she was always out for more great jokes. She loved to cook and always had wonderful meals for family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Sr.; and just recently by her oldest son, William Jr. Her sister and brother-in-law, Conrad and Catherine Peterson, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Amanda) and their children, Ian and Nathan of Virden, Ill.; and her son Michael (Juanita) of Ranchester, Wyo.; her niece, Carol Lynn Flynn and her children, Conrad (Allison) and Rosemarie (Chi) and their families; her niece, Kathleen DeMarinis, her husband Rick and daughters Gabriella and Allie. Also surviving are many close friends.

Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be prayed at St. Bernard’s Parish, 226 Wicks Lane, Billings, at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Bernard’s Parish, followed by burial of ashes next to her husband Bill in Holy Cross Cemetery. Following will be a reception at the Elks Lodge, 934 Lewis Ave.

Memorials are requested to Our Lady of the Rockies in Butte or the YMCA in Billings.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.michelottisawyers.com.
