Raymond Joe Nava Sr, 73, of Billings, went home to be with the lord on July 9, 2018.
Raymond was born in Billings, on April 22, 1945, to Agapito and Jessie Nava. He was known as “Mona” to all that knew him. Raymond attended school at Taft and Garfield elementary. Raymond served his country in the US Army being honorably discharged in 1968.
In 1971, he met Josefa Barboza and his first son Aaron whom he loved dearly as his own. Together they had three more sons Raymond Jr., Sammy, and Agapito. Raymond was a jack of all trades and worked various jobs in and around billings. His favorite job was taking cars apart and putting them back together, his son Pito shared that passion with him. In 1992, he met Pam Morgan and raised and loved Anthony and Martika as his own and together they had Mariah and MonaRae.
Raymond loved being with family and friends. He loved the Southside of Billings and could be found cruising South Park and the rest of Billings. He loved listening to music and especially Mexican music, going to Mexican dances and being the life of the party.
Raymond had many friends that were dear to him, Richard Romero, Francis Fisher, Victor and Frank Ybarra and Bobby Hilario.
Raymond is survived by his children, Brooklynn Castaneda, Raymond Jr (Lisa), Sammy (Trena), Agapito (Tera), Anthony, Martika, Mariah and Mona Rae. His siblings Baudelio (Margette), Margret Meza, David (Robin) Victor Nava, Mary (Eminterio), Lola Padilla and 18 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Agapito and Jessie, brothers Richard, Roman, Jimmy Joe, sisters Frances, Lupe, Nellie, Mary Alice, His son Aaron Casteneda, godson Jimmy Joe.
Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, July 13. Rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, July 16, and services July 17, at 1 p.m., all held at Smith Funeral Home, 925 S 27th St, Billings. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1601 Mullowney Ln, Billings. Reception to follow at the American Legion at 1540 Broadwater Ave, Billings.
