GRASS RANGE — Robert D. “Bob” Fleharty, 90, of Grass Range, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2010, at his home, of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 21, 1920, the son of Albert “Jake” and Gladys (McBroom) Fleharty at Blakeslee, Mont., where the family lived for six years. They moved to the Barney place south of Becket, where they lived and Bob went to school for eight years. Jake and Gladys moved to the home place where Bob and Eva currently live. Bob finished his high school years and graduated from Grass Range High School in 1941.
On Nov. 13, 1948, he was united in marriage to Eva Johnson in Billings. They lived at the Kinnick place for 10 years. In 1958, Bob and Eva purchased the home place from Jake and Gladys. Bob and Eva purchased several other places to put together Fleharty Land and Livestock. A big event was when the boys Michael and Monty came back to the family ranch to help run the place.
Bob was a member of the Grass Range United Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge in Lewistown.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eva; sons Michael (Yvonne) Fleharty and Monte (Kris) Fleharty, all of Grass Range; grandchildren Katie (Brent) Harvey, Tami Fleharty, Joe (Chip) Benson, Mitchel R. Fleharty, Lacy J. Fleharty, Charlee R. (Austin) McKay, great-grandson Dalton Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Edith.
Memorial services for Robert “Bob” Fleharty will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Grass Range High School. Please stay for the reception following the memorial service: a dessert potluck. Private inurnment will take place in the Grass Range Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
