ARLINGTON, Wash. — Robert Rowley Savidge, 74, of Arlington, formerly of Billings, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010.
"Bob" was born April, 6, 1936 in Glasgow, Mont., to Martin and Ruth Savidge. Bob attended schools in Boyd, Joliet and Billings, Mont., where he graduated from Billings Senior High in 1956. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. While working for Montana Dakota Utilities, he met the love of his life, Helen. They were married July 18, 1964. They enjoyed spending weekends with family and friends in White Sulphur Springs, Mont., snowmobiling, riding motorcycles and playing pinochle into the wee hours of the morning.
Bob retired from MDU in 1990 and set off with Helen in their motor home to see the world and eventually settled in Smokey Point. Bob enjoyed his post-retirement working at Sno-King Bingo and the Tulalip Casino as well as playing cards with friends, cribbage with his daughter and fishing with his son and grandson. Bob treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; and sister Shirley Dickerson.
Bob leaves behind his daughter, Heide; son, Michael (Kristin); and grandchildren, Brittany, Emmaline and Nicklaus. Bob is survived by his sisters, Pat McRae and Marilyn Hertz of Montana; along with several nieces, nephews and companion Barbara Mickelsen.
A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m.
