LAME DEER - Rose M. Rapos, age 66, of Lame Deer, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Deaconess Billings Hospital, following a short battle with cancer.
Rose was born on March 25, 1935, in Lame Deer, the daughter of Jerry and Alice (Harris) Kinzel. She grew up on the family ranch north of Lame Deer and attended school in Lame Deer and the Busby Boarding School , later graduating from Terry High School. On Dec. 17, 1955, Rose was united in marriage to Charles P. Rapos in Fallon. To this union, four children were born, Diane, Virginia, John and Don.

Together, they made their home in Fallon until Charles passed away in 1973. Rose then moved back to Lame Deer. She loved her flowers and gardening, as well as quilting, knitting and needlework in general. She also enjoyed attending quilt shows and traveling. Most especially, she loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all.
Rose is survived by two sons, John Rapos of West St. Paul, Minn., Don Rapos of Lame Deer; one daughter Diane Rapos of Lame Deer; two grandchildren, Dustie Rose One Bear and Avery One Bear; one brother, Oscar Kinzel and his wife Gloria of Lame Deer; three sisters, Cecelia Medicine Elk of Lame Deer, Helen Hiwalker of Lame Deer and Cyrilla Bearchum of Ashland. She is also survived by several special nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Virginia; her brother Virgil Kinzel; and her sister Emma Fotland.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Lame Deer Mennonite Church in Lame Deer. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center (PEAKS) program at 1041 N. 29 ST Billings, MT 59101.
