Ruth Kaiser passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at St. Vincent Healthcare, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Ruth was born Oct. 28, 1919, to Christian and Sophia Will Rudio. She was raised on the family farm 10 miles west of Billings. There, she attended Canyon Creek School through the eighth grade. After graduation, she worked winters as a housekeeper in Billings, and summers working at the Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone Park.
On Feb. 27, 1942, she married James Kaiser in Billings, where they worked on a farm five miles west of Billings for several years. In 1952, they moved to Billings, where Jim became employed by Farmers Union GTA and she became a housewife. Later, when he became manager, Ruth worked as his secretary. After Jim's death in March of 1980, Ruth retired to the family home. In May of 2003, she moved to Edgewood Vista in Billings.
Ruth enjoyed life to the fullest. After retiring, she belonged to a pinochle club and later to a bridge club. In the summers, she would attend 30 or more Billings Mustang games with her special friend, Shirley. She loved to attend Shepherd Mustang football games when her son was coaching. She attended concerts in the park and at Alberta Bair and went on several trips.
Ruth deeply enjoyed little kids and especially enjoyed her granddaughters and later her great-grandchildren. She was kind and giving, especially looking after her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Christ; and two sisters, Lena Helzer and Louise Gallop.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Pam); sisters, Sophia Nielsen and Rose Helzer; brothers, Al (Marion) Rudio and Chuck (Adeline) Rudio; granddaughters Janell (Mike) Porter and Keri (Larry) Myers; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Tristan Myers and Chloe and Landon Porter.
Many thanks to all the staff at Edgewood Vista for their loving care and to special friends Shirley Reiter and Patty Kuchera for their kindness.
