Our beautiful mom, Shirley Price, 69, of Billings, passed away peacefully early in the morning on Saturday, March 2, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Shirley was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Billings, Mont., to Ralph and Dorothy Popelka. She grew up and attended grade school in Acton, Mont., then continued her junior and high school years in Billings. After graduating from Billings Senior High, she attended nursing school at Rocky Mountain College.

It was during that time that she met Ron Price. Ron and Shirley Were married on Sept. 7, 1963, spending 34 wonderful years together and were blessed with two children, Ronda and Bob. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom with a couple of part-time jobs before starting her career at Walman Optical in 1979. During her 28 years at Walman Optical, she enjoyed being in customer service and the friendships it produced. She retired from Walman Optical in 2007.

Throughout her life, Shirley enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing and camping at Mount High with friends, but her passion was supporting her family in their motorcycle activities. For many years she worked sign-ups at the Great American Hill Climb, as well as counting laps at motocross races. She was the best "pit mom" ever! Shirley also loved playing cards with all of her card clubs and dinners with her Red Hat friends. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed being a part of their activities.

Shirley is survived by her children, Ronda (Joe) Walter and Bob (Jill) Price; grandchildren Ryan and Alex-Walter and Jordan and Tyler Price; brother Ed (Evelyn) Popelka; and sister Mary (Lloyd) Kelsey. Shirley will also be missed by many relatives and wonderful friends who supported her throughout her illness.
