Stephen Wade Severe, 18, died May 13, 2003, from injuries suffered in a climbing accident on the Rimrocks of Billings.
He was born on June 27, 1984, in Payson, Utah, to Stephen Lewis and Julie Ann (Neilson) Severe. He attended schools in Payson for K-2 and 3-10 in Cody, Wyo. Most recently, he has been attending Billings West High school and the Career Center, where he was working towards graduation this year.
Wade was an active priest in the Pioneer Park Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wade enjoyed seeing people happy with themselves. He especially enjoyed the time he and his family lived on a ranch outside of Cody. He loved to ride horses and help with the annual brandings. He enjoyed camping on the nearby butte hunting for rabbits and snakes with his shotgun and/or .22 rifle.
He is survived by his mother and father, Stephen and Julie Severe of Billings; four brothers, Tyler Severe of Logan, Kyle, Albert and Todd Severe of Billings; three sisters, Angela Laing of Mesa, Ariz., Lisa Allred of Orofino, Idaho, and Lori Johnson of Vermont; nephews, Benson Laing and Garrett Allred; nieces Brooke Laing, Elizabeth Laing and Mikayla Allred; grandparents, David and Thelma Severe of Oakley, Idaho, and Virgil Neilson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby Lenore Neilson; nephews, Stephen and Austin Laing.
Services will be held at the LDS Stake Center at 2929 Belvedere Drive at 10 a.m. on Monday, the 19th of May. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Stake Center prior to the service. Smith Downtown Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
