On Nov. 19, 2008, William H. "Bill" Sapp passed away at St. Vincent Hospital. He will be loved in memory by Edna, his wife of 60 years; his children, Linda (Bruce) MacIntyre, Kathy (Tim) Hendricks, Jonathan Sapp and foster son Nevzat (Havva) Nergiz; his sister, Luetta Anderson; grandchildren Shane (Jennifer) Wismeyer, Jay (Morgan) Hendricks, Jeremy (Janine) Hendricks and Tyler Sapp; great-grandchildren Jordan and Logan Wismeyer, Ariel and Darien Hendricks, Cory and Josh Godsey.
He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Hull, Ill., to William Ernest and Josephine Sapp. He served in the U.S. Navy for three and half years. He was aboard the USS Raleigh in the Pacific during WWII. On Aug. 6, 1948, he married Edna P. Rubemeyer in Billings where they made their home. He retired from Conoco as electrical supervisor in 1985 after 36 years where he was also a member of the OCAW union.
Bill was always kind and willing to help anyone he could. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church and dedicated his life to God. He was most comfortable outside where he spent his time fishing on Rock Creek or Stillwater River, hunting, gardening, or manicuring his yard. He was talented woodworker and loved working in his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ted and Ernie Sapp, sisters Erma Lee, Waunita Snell and Leetha Williams.
Visitation be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Michelotti-Sawyers, 1001 Alderson Ave. Following the services, a memorial reception will be held at the Pentecostal Church, 2335 Lewis Ave.
