CODY, Wyo. — Woodrow “Woody” Wayne Polston, 98, of Cody, died at the Diamond Willow Personal Care Home in Billings on Nov. 7, 2010.
He was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Wakita, Okla., to Meda and William Polston. He grew up in the area around Absarokee, Mont., with his four brothers and three sisters.
He was involved in various occupations in his early years with success in entertainment and music (played the sax in several bands). He received training in the dairy business from the Univ. of Idaho and owned dairies in Powell and Cody for 25 years.
Woody then expanded into a Laundromat, a car wash, and cafeterias in West Yellowstone, Jackson, and Cody until the 1990s, when he finally retired. Providing for his family was a driving force in his life.
He moved to Montana and lived in Joliet and Billings for several years before moving back to Cody. He lived independently in Cody until 2009, when he moved to Billings.
Woody was always optimistic, active, and happy.
He is survived by son John (Mary) of Westminster, Colo.; daughter Janet (Tom) Skalsky of Missoula; three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Nov. 11, 2:30 p.m., at the Cremation & Funeral Gallery in Billings.
